Charlene’s Angels Received a Direct Service Workforce (DSW) Investment Grant from FSSA

Charlene’s Angels applied, and received a workforce invest grant from the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA). The grant award was $58,909.05 of which 95% or $55,963.60 will be distributed to support the direct service workforce *(DSW) of Charlene’s Angels. Distribution will be based on the percentage of direct service wages earned by each employee in 2022 as compared to the total amount of direct service wages paid by Charlene’s Angels in 2022 i.e.;

  • If a Charlene’s Angels’ direct service provider earned 3% of the total wages paid to all Charlene’s Angels direct service providers in 2022, they would receive 3% of the $55,963.60 mentioned in the previous paragraph. A 3% share would amount to $1,678.91.

FSSA will distribute the grant in three parts. One third of the grant will be distributed in the first quarter of 2023, one third in the second quarter of 2023 and the final third, in the third quarter of 2023. The 1/3 of the grant award was received by Charlene’s Angels in the first quarter of 2023 and will be
distributed as follows:

  • Half of the employee’s portion of the distributable grant amount will be included and described as a bonus in the first pay period of February 2023.
  • The second half of the employee’s portion of the distributable grant amount will be included and described as a bonus in the first pay period of March 2023.

Charlene’s Angels is thankful that the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration recognizes the high value delivered each day by the people that serve the “Angels” and is committed to timely distributing the rest of the grant proceeds as received.

* DWS is defined as a person who is employed to provide hands-on care or direct support in Home & Community-based Services (HCBS) settings for an individual who needs assistance to perform routine daily activities secondary to ageing and/or disabilities.
