Community integration is designed to help persons to optimize their personal, social, and vocational competency to live successfully in the community. Persons served are active partners in determining the activities in which they desire to participate. Therefore, the settings are flexible, in order to mitigate barriers between staff members and persons served. Bowling, put-put golf, shopping, dining out, attending movies, etc. are examples of community integration services. Consumer-directed programs are also included.
